Multi Disc Auger Press

The new generation multi-disc auger press sludge dewatering technology, which will bring a new breath to the sludge dewatering process, will be the primary choice of domestic and industrial wastewater treatment plants. Multi-disc auger press technology, which was first tested in 1985 and started to spread rapidly all over the world thanks to positive feedback, offers many advantages compared to other equivalent sludge dewatering equipment.</

What these equipments, which are used extensively in wastewater treatment plants sludge dewatering processes, actually do is phase separation. With the help of these equipments, phase separation is made from a mixture containing fluids with different phase properties and the fluids are separated from each other. While sludge-water phase separation is made in a wastewater treatment plant, oil-water phase separation can be made in a different plant.

It will be easiest to explain the general working principle of the multi-disc auger press sludge dewatering equipment, based on the wastewater treatment plants where it is used extensively, through the image below. In multi disc auger press sludge dewatering equipment, the wastewater is first taken to the two-chambered tank on the unit. Wastewater reaching a certain height in the first compartment used as a balancing tank is transferred from here to the second compartment of the tank, which is the mixing tank, by weir by its own gravity. In the meantime, polymer dosing starts automatically with the help of a dosing pump from the polymer preparation unit in the mixing tank. The purpose of the mixing tank is to mix the wastewater and the polymer as well as possible by means of a mixer.

Working Principle of Auger Press Sludge Dewatering

The wastewater, which interacts with the polymer in the mixing tank and whose flock formation is completed, is weird by its own gravity and taken to the area where the main dewatering work will be carried out. This area, which has an auger (archimedes screw) structure moving along a channel consisting of movable and fixed disks, consists of two parts. The wastewater is first discharged into the area called concentration. The wastewater, which is accelerated upwards under a certain slope with the help of the auger, is drained by the effect of gravity and poured through the spaces between the discs. The spaces between the movable and hard disks are designed not to allow the passage of particles and flock escape is prevented. The wastewater, which loses some of the water in it after the condensation area and becomes more dense, is well compressed in the dewatering area and thrown out as a cake. During dewatering, the system performance is at least 90%.

Multi disc auger press sludge dewatering equipment minimizes operating costs with low energy consumption. It also provides savings with lower water consumption compared to equivalent products. The polymer consumption is lower than the commonly used sludge dewatering equipment in the market. Since it operates at operating speeds of 1-5 rpm, its wear times are very long and the need for spare parts is low. Due to its vibration-free and silent operation, it is much more advantageous in closed areas, especially compared to centrifugal decanters.
